Busy Day

Breakfast at home and then lunch at Nancy Lopez Country Club! Grocery shopping and a visit to Dollar Tree almost a week since being in one. Needed a fix! Rested and then dinner at home before going to Sumpter Landing and checking out the vendors and music. The singer had on her winter coat, we had little jackets and thought it delightful. Went to checkout a neighborhood with dancing Xmas lights. It certainly was different.

Arrived in The Villages

Arrived at the house we are renting. Met Jen the caretaker, got the keys. Went shopping for what we needed immediately and will do real shopping tomorrow. Also will pick up our credentials, so we can do what residents do.

Perfect Day for Travel - NOT

We were up early and out the door of the Hampton Inn - Louisville/Brook at 8 a.m.

RAIN AND MORE RAIN.  TRUCKS AND MORE TRUCKS.

Took I-65 South to I-24 East.  Not far from I-75, the next highway on the way to Atlanta - big tie up.  We're in the mountains and there is a backup for miles!  See an Exit I-59 South and head for it.  Stop at Trenton, GA (not NJ) for lunch at McDonalds and to look at a map.  Tried calling Georgia 511 for information - got Tennessee 511 and they show no problem on I-24!  Really???

Decided to take 136 through the Chatahoocha National Forest.  Real mountain driving - Terry does a great job with the twists and turns.  Gypsy II (our GPS) gets us to I-75.

After 9 hours on the road (we stop a lot). Finally arrive at the Hyatt Place Hotel in Atlanta and go to Sweet Tomato for dinner and are now relaxing.  Soon Marilyn has to call into the Township to participate in the board meeting.

Perfect Day to Travel

Yesterday, there was no traffic in the Chicago area when we left.  Everything fit in the car (a miracle).  Listened to a tape of a Bob Green book about friendship.

Lunch at Cracker Barrell and on to Louisville.

Dinner was order-in Pizza and Chicken Parma. sandwich.  Yummy.

Up early today to get to Atlanta.  Rain predicted for the entire ride - yuck.

Merry Christmas to all.  We had a delightful brunch at Terry's with the whole family, including Dave's Mom, Sue.  First photo Miranda, Mindy, Jeremy and Glenn Luebke.  Second photo is Dave, Sue, Jessica and Stacy Sears.  Last one is of Terry and Marilyn.

Santa was good to us all.

Christmas Eve

Tonight we are meeting friends Ida and Fran for dinner for what we call our MaryJane Christmas Eve dinner in memory of dear friend who hosted dinner and singing Christmas carols for many years.
