Cool and Sunny Day - We Never Left the House

Happy St Patrick's Day

At 11:30, Marilyn went on the Temple Emanu-el Streicher Centers to hear Susan Morrison interviewed about her new book about Loren Michaels, the Producer of Saturday Night Live.  It was a very interesting interview.

We both have been working on our computers, making telephone calls, and WORKING.

We also renewed our Northlight subscription for next year, in the new location in Evanston.

We also ordered tickets for Patchouli, in April, in Lombard.  It will be a memorial service for Bruce who died last year (the same day that Julie's Dad died).

It's the fifth anniversary of our "adopted" sister, Betty's death.  We still miss her and especially her sense of humor.  Below is a photo of her and her sons.

Marty, Betty, Mitch

Tonight, after Jeopardy, we will go onto Barry Bradford's presentation of 1951.

Windy Day and Driving Ms. Terry

We left the house after breakfast to go to a Dollar Tree on 466A (as the one we went to yesterday did not have what Terry wanted).

We then stopped at Aldi's for a few things.

We ate our leftover pizza for dinner - yum.

After dinner, Marilyn listened to the Skokie Board of Trustee's Meeting.

Rainy Night

We lazed around the house for most of the morning.

We then went to Karen's for her St. Patrick's Day Party.

We left Karen's and went to the postal station to drop a letter and then went to Dollar Tree.

We came home because it looked as if the heavens would open up.

During dinner and after Marilyn watched the Oscars.  Not that she knew any of the winners or had seen any of the movies.

Threat of Rain but No Rain

After breakfast, we went to Laurel Manor for a craft fair and both bought some jewelry.

We next went to Seabreeze and bought nothing - at another craft fair.

We decided not to go to the third craft fair at Rohan.

We came home to rest and read.

A little before 5:30, we picked up Joy to go to dinner at Francesco's for pizza.

Nice day in the 70's and Errands

We left the house fairly early and got to Plaza Cadillac to check out the car for our trip home and an oil change.

From there we went to the Hospital Resale Shoppe and each bought a red top and Marilyn bought a pumpkin colored one too.

We then recycled our newspapers at St. Tim's.

After lunch we headed to Russell Stover for a box of candy to take to a party on Sunday.

Terry and Mindy went over their corporate taxes, which Mindy then mailed.

Marilyn watched Jeopardy from yesterday, while Terry was busy paying bills at her desk.

We then went onto Temple Services on our I-Pads with ear buds on our recliners.

Next stop was at Publix, on 466, in Southern Trace, where Terry ran in to get a few things.

After dinner, we went to another Publix, in Spanish Springs, for a few more items.

We both did laundry - did we mention that the laundry is in the garage.

Nice Day, Chicagoland Club Lunch/Yoga

We left the house around 10:30 to go to Chicagoland Ladies and chair yoga, with Maryann Holden.

We brought our salads and put them out and did the chair yoga first and then had a feast of salads.

Terry brought egg salad and Marilyn brought something called Orange Jell-o Salad  with mandarin oranges, crushed pineapple, orange jell-o mix, cottage cheese, and whipped topping).

Long Buffet Table

Tonight, we will go on Temple Emanu-el Streicher Centers to see Joan Lunden talk about Life Beyond the Script.

Warm Day - Mahjongg and Taxes

It got close to 90's today!

Terry and I both made our salads for tomorrow and Chicagoland Ladies.

After a quick lunch, we went to Diane's to again substitute in her mahjongg game.  (photo is from the first time we substituted)

After mahjongg, Terry and Mindy were discussing taxes, and completed Marilyn's corporate return.

Warm Day - Change Clocks - Flea Market - Glenn and Jennifer

It was another warm day - almost 90!

Our phones, computers, bedroom clocks, etc. all set themselves to the new time.  (SPRING AHEAD)

Marilyn changed the kitchen stove and microwave clocks.

We left the house after breakfast and went over to the Markets of Marion and we were on an errand for our cousin Linda Portnoy.  We found what she was looking for - a mahjongg case.  (Marilyn bought one too).  We bought some other things too as gifts.  We also changed the clock in the car to the new time.

Top photo is the big bag and second photo is of the two bags for tiles.

We came home for lunch.  About 4:30 p.m., Glenn and his cousin Jennifer visited us.  We gave them drinks and cheese and crackers at the house, and we then took them to the Orange Blossom Country Club for dinner and they left to go to their AirBnB near Jennifer's sister-in-law from dinner.

Almost 90 degrees

As we drove to Brandon, and the Cheesecake Factory to meet Elyse and Mark Smith, it was HOT.

We forgot to take a photo - we are so bad!

Here is a photo from a couple of years ago, with Katya  (Elyse and Mark's daughter) and Elyse seated, and Mark and Shelle standing. Shelle is Elyse's sister and she had been in town from St. Louis.

We stopped for gas and then stopped at a Dollar Tree on 466A, and then Aldi's for a few things.

Mindy and Terry were talking taxes for a good part of the evening.

Beautiful Day - Lynnhaven

It was a beautiful day, but Marilyn was determined to finish the Sisterhood Book Club Book - mission accomplished!

We finally left the house after 5 p.m. to go to Laurel Manor  for Lynnhaven and Ken Block, a singer/comedian.  We brought turkey roll-ups, chips, and cookies.  Diane and Tom brought shrimp, Karen brought pizza, Gloria brought fruit, and Margaret brought deviled eggs.  It was a feast.

His wife was operating his visuals and it was a very pleasant evening.

At our table were Diane and Tom, Gloria, Karen, and Margaret.

Pat and Dick were at Kathy and Jack's table.

Beautiful Day and Rainy Night

We went into Sally's class at 11:30, Terry at the office and Marilyn in the bedroom.

We had an interesting discussion about the war with Iran, and Illinois politics - most specifically the Senate race to replace Durbin, and the 9th Congressional to replace Jan Schakowsky.  We also discussed AIPAC and J Street.  We had no time to discuss the homework, which we will discuss next week.

After lunch, we went to Costco to get our contribution to Lynnhaven tomorrow night (turkey roll ups/chips) Terry went in while Marilyn waited.

Next, we went to Publix and Terry ran in for some items.

After dinner, we will watch the news and then Jeopardy.  However Dish does not seem to be working.  It finally worked!!!.

Beautiful Day but we Never Left the House

The landlady came by with the vacuum cleaner that Terry and she could not figure out how to clean out.  She had taken it home for Bernie to figure out.  He showed her and she showed Terry how to detach the part that accumulates the dust.

We listened to our "homework" for Sally's class, the final episode of Burn Order, about the Japanese Interment.

We then listened to Main Justice, with Andrew Weissmann and Mary McCord.

After dinner, Marilyn went on a Temple Emanu--el Streicker Center interview with the writer  and star of a new play on Broadway - Giant.  John Lithgow plays Roald Dahl (the children's writer).  The play is about Dahl's antisemitism.

We have both spent a good part of the day catching up on e-mails, and readying our Sisterhood Book Club Book.

Tuesday, March 3, 2026

Warm Day

After breakfast we went on a Zoom with two of our cousins (one cousin could not make it).  We talked with Linda and Julie until Terry called an end to the Zoom, as she wanted to go to a Farmer's Market/Craft Fair.  Did not have time to take a photo of the 4 of us.  We did set a date to play mahjongg when we get back.

The farmer's market/craft fair - was out in the open on a grassy area on Rolling Acres Road.

For lunch, we went to the Glenview Country Club and here is a photo  of the golf course from our table on the porch.

We went to a Dollar Tree for a few things and then came home and both napped as if we had been drugged.

After salad and crackers for dinner (we were still full from lunch) we went onto Barry Bradford's program about 1926 (100 years ago).

Monday, March 2, 2026

Pretty Day and Boring Day

We both worked at our desks a good part of the morning.

Marilyn was finalizing our trip home - leaving Florida on March 25th and going to visit our cousin Jeff Glazer on 3/26.

We finally left the house after lunch and went to Beall's Outlet at Mulberry.  Terry bought some tops and Marilyn bought a pair of shoes.

After dinner Terry is watching the news - Marilyn cannot stand to see the orange man talk and is writing the blog instead.

The Daily Sun is Happy, Happy News.  We are at war with Iran and here's today's headline!

Reading and New Lease for 2027

We both have been busy trying to read the next Sisterhood Book Club book.  It's a big book.  Marilyn has the hard copy book and will have to switch to e-book as the lighting is so bad.

Shirley, our landlady, came over with a new lease for 2027.  Terry gave her brownies to take home for her and Bernie.

Drizzling for part of the day

We left the house after breakfast to go to the postal station and Terry was able to get Marilyn's box.

Lake Miona Recreation Center for a craft fair was our next stop and Terry bought a ring.

We next went to Beall's Outlet and Marilyn bought some things that she needs to try on.

Terry stopped into Publix for a few things while Marilyn was still in Beall's.

After lunch we each napped for a little while and Marilyn did laundry.

At 5:30 we went to Diane and Tom's for dinner.  Tom cooked the salmon on the grill and it was delicious, served with salad, rice and green beans, and home made sauce for the salmon. We took no photos!

After playing cards (Marilyn won) we had ice cream for dessert.

It was a great evening with friends of long standing.

Rainy Day

It was an overcast day and we lazed around all day.

Terry looked at our outdoor porch and saw a box of  Mrs. Field's Cookies sitting out there.  They are from Mindy and Stacy as a recovery present after Marilyn's Mohs surgery, and they are yummy!  We've sampled a lot of them!!!

Marilyn went out for the newspaper and it was drizzling - she had her coat on!

We had a quick dinner and went to the postal station to try to get Marilyn's box, but the key would not work - we will go back again tomorrow.

We then went to La Hacienda Recreation Center for Jukebox Bingo.

There were 10 of us and they allowed us to put two tables together.

In black, Kathy, Pat, Dick, Diane, Tom, Karen, Gloria, Terry, Marilyn, Jack

It was a fun evening and Marilyn had a bingo and won $25!

Thursday, February 26, 2026

Nice sunny day

We had a cool morning but it got up to the 70's late morning.

Terry filled out her ballot and got it ready for mailing.

We started out with Sally's class - Terry in the office and Marilyn on the Lanai.  Marilyn did not need to plug in the heater on the Lanai.

On the way to Freedom Point for lunch, we mailed Terry's ballot.

We went to Freedom Point and lunch, in the Pub, with Joy (who lives at Freedom Point).

After lunch, we went to Joy's apartment and played mahjongg with her friend Elaine, who also lives at Freedom Point.  We did not take a photo - our bad.

Tonight on Zoom was Leslie Goddard talking about Cookbooks.

Wednesday, February 25, 2026

Nice Day for a Ride

The morning started out cool, but it warmed up to the low 70's in the afternoon.

We drove to Brandon Mall to meet Dorothy and Steve Stewart at Bahama Breeze, in Brandon.

As we got into The Villages, we stopped at Costco and Terry went into the store, while Marilyn got gas.

We stopped at the postal station so Terry could get her Premium package and her ballot.

After dinner, we plan to watch Jeopardy.

Tuesday, February 24, 2026

Cool Day and Stitches Out

We left the house early to go to Mt. Dora to have Marilyn's stitches removed after Mohs Surgery.

We stopped at the Hospital Resale Shoppe on the way back and each bought one item.  Terry also dropped off some more plastic bags.

It was lunch time and we decided to go to the Brooklyn Bagel Shop and get egg salad sandwiches. We both have half of our sandwich left over.

We came home to rest, do laundry, and listen to our "homework" for Thursday's class with Sally.

At 7 p.m., we turned on Jeopardy.

At 7:30 p.m., we went into Barry Bradford's Zoom on What Just Happened this Month.

Monday, February 23, 2026

Cool Day and Oh So Pretty

After lunch, we left to go see Vanessa to work her magic on our hair!

On the way home we stopped at Aldi and Terry got the rest of the things on her list.

We are watching the news and will be watching Jeopardy.

To everyone in Mexico, especially Puerta Vallarta, -be safe.

Rain in the morning and then a nice overcast day

We did not leave the house until after noon to go to a Craft Fair and Gem Show at Seabreeze. Recreation Center.  We both bought earrings.  We stopped at the postal station so we could put Marilyn's ballot into the mail.

Marilyn has had a taste for pizza and we went for a late lunch for pizza, in Southern Trace Shopping Center.   They had a lunch special and we both got individual pizza.  The sausage was different but plentiful.  We both have leftovers.

Terry went into Publix for a few things - Marilyn waited in the car.

Mindy and Glenn went to our apartments to check things out and report all is fine.

They sent Terry her ballot via priority mail,  so she should be able to vote soon.

Cookie and Thrift Shoppe

We left the house to return the cookies and one of the muffins from the bakery as they did not taste good.  There was a problem with one of the ingredients and we were not sure it was safe to eat.

Terry went in to return the cookies and said the lady there was lovely and gave her back Stacy and Mindy's money.

Since we were so close to the Ye Olde Thrift Shoppe, we stopped there. We each bought two tops.  We also ran into our friend Joy (who volunteers there).

We stopped at the Dollar Tree for a few things, including cards.

We then went home to eat our Thai leftovers from last night for lunch.

We left the house again around 5 p.m., thinking we'd go for pizza.

They had a 40 minute wait and we decided to just stop for gas at Costco and go to Dollar Tree as Terry needed one more card.

Terry warmed up some chicken from Publix for dinner.

Great Day

The weather was perfect and just after breakfast, and we were still in our pj's, when the doorbell rang.

Terry answered and it was a local bakery with cookies for Marilyn (recovery gift from Mindy and Stacy). The delivery person also brought two muffins because the delivery did not happen yesterday.  What a wonderful thing for the girls to do.

We had a quick lunch and got showered and dressed to go to The Sharon to see Three Tenors + Plus One.

Mr. Washington was ill and a local talent - Alex Spears -substituted and was excellent

Grant Norman is now gray and should get a new photo

We met Ethel and Steve there and went to Ruby Thai for dinner with them.

We then came home with just a few minutes before Temple Services, where Carol Berger was honored.

Carol Klein Alexander had already left the  Bima when they asked Carol Berger to stay on to sing Shehecheyanu

Another Beautiful Day and Busy Day

Since the tape for the face pads the Dermatologist gave Marilyn were not self sticking, Marilyn ran to CVS to get tape, as the Amazon order did not come when expected.

Terry and Marilyn put the pad on Marilyn's face and did a not too good job.  But, underneath, it looks good.

At 11 a.m., we ran to Sumter Landing and the Lighthouse for lunch with Diane, Patti and Sherry (Patti's daughter), for a mini Kelvyn Park High School Reunion. We ordered shrimp that had to be pealed ,as an appetizer, as Patti and Sherry were delayed at the dentist.  Patti was in the dentist chair for two hours and because of shots could not feel well enough to eat. Sherry did order.  NO PHOTO - WE ARE SO BAD.

Patti and Sherry from a couple of  years ago at our rental

At 6 p.m., we were at Rohan Recreation Center to see a couple who does Presidents and First Ladies (we've seen them numerous times).  They were doing John and Abagail Adams this time.
