Home

We left the Hyatt Place Hotel, in Indy/Airport, after a nice breakfast.  In checking out, I noticed that our dinner from last night was not on the bill.  I told the gal who was checking us out the amount of the bill.  She said she would investigate where the check went, but not to worry about it.

We make stops for gas and to use the washroom.

We decided to stop for pancakes at Cracker Barrell.  We got on 80-94 shortly after lunch .and it was like driving the Indy 500, the speed limit was about 55, and at one point I was going 70 and being passed.

For those of you who would like to see what our car looks like packed up.  First photo is the trunk, 2nd photo is the back seat.

On The Way Home - Day Four

We had breakfast at the Country Inn and Suites and were off a little after 9:20 a.m.

The traffic was not bad - though there were some trucks, but things moved.

We had our usual stops for gas and washrooms.

We took I-75 into I-64 into I-65.  It was a beautiful ride - hilly and interesting.

For lunch we went to Denny's in Memphis (Kentucky) We shared a sandwich and then each had a dessert.  Terry had ice cream with caramel sauce.  Marilyn had a brownie sundae (OMG).

We got to the Hyatt Place near the airport in Indianapolis.  We are amazed how they have changed the rooms to something that is very lacking.  Used to be our favorite hotel chain.

We decided to have dinner in the lobby of the hotel.  Terry had a chicken Caesar salad and Marilyn had quesadillas.  We both had a glass of wine (the waiter treated us to the wine)!

On the Way Home - Day Three

We left the Hampton Inn in Stone Mountain about 9:30 after a nice breakfast.

We anticipated a 4 3/4 hour ride.  We were North of Atlanta, but did hit some of their traffic, including large loads with escort vehicles.

We stopped for gas and then went to Love's to return something Terry had bought at another Love's.  We also stopped at McDonalds for lunch (sorry Stacy).

We later stopped at a McDonalds for a washroom, and then a Casey's for gas.  It was a good move, since traffic was tied up for about an hour (or more).  We were just inching along.

We finally got to our Hotel - Country Inn and Suites in London, KY.

We decided not to go out and to have dinner of mac/cheese and raisin bagels that Terry had in the food bag.

Terry is finishing reading The Correspondent, for our family book club.

We both plan to go onto Temple Services at 8 p.m. Eastern Time.

On The Way Home - Day Two - Cousin Jeff

We left the hotel in Holiday Inn Express, Macon, about 10 a.m., after a nice breakfast, to go visit our cousin Jeff Glazer.

We arrived at his complex about 11:30 and parked at the Center.  We had lunch with Jan Trabb, whom he knew from New Jersey and Sun City in Bluffton, SC

After a tour, we saw his apartment, and played with the dog and went to our hotel  (The Hampton Inn) to rest.  The hotel is disappointing in that you can sit on the couch but there is no where to put your feet.  It is a two room suite, with the beds in the second room - also has a kitchen.

We went back to have dinner with Jeff and Jan, which was lovely.  Jan ordered a dessert with four types of ice cream that we should have taken a photo of - indecent.

Here's a photo of the four of us taken by someone they knew before we went into dinner.

On the Way Home - Day One

We left the house a little after 9 a.m.

As usual, we stopped to go to the washroom, and then again for gas.

It was a Cracker Barrell day - we stopped for lunch at one Cracker Barrell and had eggs.

We found our hotel, which is close to a Cracker Barrell so we had dinner there - good meatloaf dinner.

Overcast/Windy day

We dropped some food, including ice cream for Tom, at Diane and Tom's house.

No box this year as we are leaving everything in the linen closet at the house.

Tom is feeling much better and we went to Terra Del Sol for lunch (forgot to take a photo of them).

Originally, we thought we would eat outside, but opted for inside as it was windy outside.

We packed the trunk!  IT CLOSED!!!!  Miracles of Miracles.

Our stuff for inside the car is staged and ready to go after we get dressed in the morning.

We will watch Jeopardy and then go onto Barry Bradford Zoom to hear about John Adams.

Beautiful Day

It was a beautiful day as we drove to the beauty shop and Vanessa worked her magic.  She has an individual salon within this building.

Vanessa is half way down on the right.

After a dinner of our "emergency pizza", Terry has declared the kitchen closed, except for breakfast the next two days.

Beautiful Day and PACKING

OMG  we have a lot of stuff!

We started packing up and, hopefully ,everything will fit in the car.

We left our boxes in the linen closet instead of at Diane and Tom's.

We spoke with Cousin Jeff Glazer and he is looking forward to seeing us on Thursday.

Pretty Day

It's was a cool morning (60 degrees) and we both worked at our computers in the morning.

Terry then cleaned a little and prepared meals.

Marilyn cleaned up after meals and we found room for our box, that we usually leave at Diane and Tom's,  in the linen closet.

Marilyn spent most of the day reading the next Sisterhood Book Club Book, on her I-Pad.

THE BRIAR CLUB.

Cool/Windy Day

After lunch we went to the Markets of Marion to get something that Terry had seen the last time we were there but did not buy.

We also stopped at Aldi to get some salad makings to last us for the next few days..

After dinner, we went on our Temple's Services.

Terry spoke with Diane to learn that Tom passed out on the bus to St.Augustine.  After a visit to the emergency room in Summerfield, they learned that he had double pneumonia and was hospitalized in Ocala.  He is better now, though very tired.

We recorded Jeopardy and may watch that.

Cool - windy Day

Terry took a photo of the flowers that Diane and Tom brought a week ago to show how well they lasted.  The two red roses bit the dust yesterday, but the rest is lovely.

After breakfast we went into Sally's class and forgot to take a photo.  Here's the photo from a few weeks ago.

Before dinner, we went on a Zoom with friends Sara Cohen and Jan Flapan.

Marilyn and Jan on top/ Sara and Terry bottom row.

After dinner and the news - and we watched Jeopardy.

Weather in the 60's Errands, Book Club

We both worked in the morning and then after lunch, we left the house to run some errands.

Our first stop was the Hospital Resale Shoppe as Terry had some more plastic bags for them.  Of course, we had to look around and each bought some things.

Our next errand was to go to Publix and drop off some plastic bags there.

Then we were so close to Goodwill, we just had to stop in there.  Terry bought a top, Marilyn bought nothing.

After Jeopardy, we will go into our Sisterhood's Book Club to discuss We All Live Here.

Cool and Sunny Day - We Never Left the House

Happy St Patrick's Day

At 11:30, Marilyn went on the Temple Emanu-el Streicher Centers to hear Susan Morrison interviewed about her new book about Loren Michaels, the Producer of Saturday Night Live.  It was a very interesting interview.

We both have been working on our computers, making telephone calls, and WORKING.

We also renewed our Northlight subscription for next year, in the new location in Evanston.

We also ordered tickets for Patchouli, in April, in Lombard.  It will be a memorial service for Bruce who died last year (the same day that Julie's Dad died).

It's the fifth anniversary of our "adopted" sister, Betty's death.  We still miss her and especially her sense of humor.  Below is a photo of her and her sons.

Marty, Betty, Mitch

Tonight, after Jeopardy, we will go onto Barry Bradford's presentation of 1951.

Windy Day and Driving Ms. Terry

We left the house after breakfast to go to a Dollar Tree on 466A (as the one we went to yesterday did not have what Terry wanted).

We then stopped at Aldi's for a few things.

We ate our leftover pizza for dinner - yum.

After dinner, Marilyn listened to the Skokie Board of Trustee's Meeting.

Sunday, March 15, 2026

Rainy Night

We lazed around the house for most of the morning.

We then went to Karen's for her St. Patrick's Day Party.

We left Karen's and went to the postal station to drop a letter and then went to Dollar Tree.

We came home because it looked as if the heavens would open up.

During dinner and after Marilyn watched the Oscars.  Not that she knew any of the winners or had seen any of the movies.

Threat of Rain but No Rain

After breakfast, we went to Laurel Manor for a craft fair and both bought some jewelry.

We next went to Seabreeze and bought nothing - at another craft fair.

We decided not to go to the third craft fair at Rohan.

We came home to rest and read.

A little before 5:30, we picked up Joy to go to dinner at Francesco's for pizza.

Friday, March 13, 2026

Nice day in the 70's and Errands

We left the house fairly early and got to Plaza Cadillac to check out the car for our trip home and an oil change.

From there we went to the Hospital Resale Shoppe and each bought a red top and Marilyn bought a pumpkin colored one too.

We then recycled our newspapers at St. Tim's.

After lunch we headed to Russell Stover for a box of candy to take to a party on Sunday.

Terry and Mindy went over their corporate taxes, which Mindy then mailed.

Marilyn watched Jeopardy from yesterday, while Terry was busy paying bills at her desk.

We then went onto Temple Services on our I-Pads with ear buds on our recliners.

Rainy Day and Friends Here for Dinner

Marilyn was on an IDFPR meeting for the school for whom she teaches.

A little late, Marilyn joined Terry and others in Sally's class.

Diane, Tom and Cheri here for dinner at 5 p.m.

Another nice day and errands

Our first stop was at the Post Office, on Hwy 301, where Marilyn mailed her corporate taxes, and bought stamps.

Next stop was Costco and Terry ran in and got chicken for dinner tomorrow night when Diane and Tom and Cheri will be here.

Next stop was at Publix, on 466, in Southern Trace, where Terry ran in to get a few things.

After dinner, we went to another Publix, in Spanish Springs, for a few more items.

We both did laundry - did we mention that the laundry is in the garage.

Nice Day, Chicagoland Club Lunch/Yoga

We left the house around 10:30 to go to Chicagoland Ladies and chair yoga, with Maryann Holden.

We brought our salads and put them out and did the chair yoga first and then had a feast of salads.

Terry brought egg salad and Marilyn brought something called Orange Jell-o Salad  with mandarin oranges, crushed pineapple, orange jell-o mix, cottage cheese, and whipped topping).

Long Buffet Table

Tonight, we will go on Temple Emanu-el Streicher Centers to see Joan Lunden talk about Life Beyond the Script.

Warm Day - Mahjongg and Taxes

It got close to 90's today!

Terry and I both made our salads for tomorrow and Chicagoland Ladies.

After a quick lunch, we went to Diane's to again substitute in her mahjongg game.  (photo is from the first time we substituted)

After mahjongg, Terry and Mindy were discussing taxes, and completed Marilyn's corporate return.

Warm Day - Change Clocks - Flea Market - Glenn and Jennifer

It was another warm day - almost 90!

Our phones, computers, bedroom clocks, etc. all set themselves to the new time.  (SPRING AHEAD)

Marilyn changed the kitchen stove and microwave clocks.

We left the house after breakfast and went over to the Markets of Marion and we were on an errand for our cousin Linda Portnoy.  We found what she was looking for - a mahjongg case.  (Marilyn bought one too).  We bought some other things too as gifts.  We also changed the clock in the car to the new time.

Top photo is the big bag and second photo is of the two bags for tiles.

We came home for lunch.  About 4:30 p.m., Glenn and his cousin Jennifer visited us.  We gave them drinks and cheese and crackers at the house, and we then took them to the Orange Blossom Country Club for dinner and they left to go to their AirBnB near Jennifer's sister-in-law from dinner.

Almost 90 degrees

As we drove to Brandon, and the Cheesecake Factory to meet Elyse and Mark Smith, it was HOT.

We forgot to take a photo - we are so bad!

Here is a photo from a couple of years ago, with Katya  (Elyse and Mark's daughter) and Elyse seated, and Mark and Shelle standing. Shelle is Elyse's sister and she had been in town from St. Louis.

We stopped for gas and then stopped at a Dollar Tree on 466A, and then Aldi's for a few things.

Mindy and Terry were talking taxes for a good part of the evening.

Beautiful Day - Lynnhaven

It was a beautiful day, but Marilyn was determined to finish the Sisterhood Book Club Book - mission accomplished!

We finally left the house after 5 p.m. to go to Laurel Manor  for Lynnhaven and Ken Block, a singer/comedian.  We brought turkey roll-ups, chips, and cookies.  Diane and Tom brought shrimp, Karen brought pizza, Gloria brought fruit, and Margaret brought deviled eggs.  It was a feast.

His wife was operating his visuals and it was a very pleasant evening.

At our table were Diane and Tom, Gloria, Karen, and Margaret.

Pat and Dick were at Kathy and Jack's table.

Beautiful Day and Rainy Night

We went into Sally's class at 11:30, Terry at the office and Marilyn in the bedroom.

We had an interesting discussion about the war with Iran, and Illinois politics - most specifically the Senate race to replace Durbin, and the 9th Congressional to replace Jan Schakowsky.  We also discussed AIPAC and J Street.  We had no time to discuss the homework, which we will discuss next week.

After lunch, we went to Costco to get our contribution to Lynnhaven tomorrow night (turkey roll ups/chips) Terry went in while Marilyn waited.

Next, we went to Publix and Terry ran in for some items.

After dinner, we will watch the news and then Jeopardy.  However Dish does not seem to be working.  It finally worked!!!.

Beautiful Day but we Never Left the House

The landlady came by with the vacuum cleaner that Terry and she could not figure out how to clean out.  She had taken it home for Bernie to figure out.  He showed her and she showed Terry how to detach the part that accumulates the dust.

We listened to our "homework" for Sally's class, the final episode of Burn Order, about the Japanese Interment.

We then listened to Main Justice, with Andrew Weissmann and Mary McCord.

After dinner, Marilyn went on a Temple Emanu--el Streicker Center interview with the writer  and star of a new play on Broadway - Giant.  John Lithgow plays Roald Dahl (the children's writer).  The play is about Dahl's antisemitism.

We have both spent a good part of the day catching up on e-mails, and readying our Sisterhood Book Club Book.
