Neither Rain Nor Sleet Nor Dark of Night

It was a cold, rainy day, but we ventured forth to one of our favorite craft fairs at the Holiday Travel RV Resort, in Leesburg.

We felt sorry for the outdoor vendors, but enjoyed the vendors in the recreation building and the tent.

Terry bought a pair of earrings and I bought a microwave hot pad shaped to fit a bowl that can go into the microwave making it easier to get the bowl out of the microwave without burning yourself!

Terry had bought a couple at another craft fair.

 

 

We then went to T. J. Max.  Terry bought an ear bud/microphone in order to better listen to some conference calls that she is participating in next week.

 

I bought a blouse.

 

Both of our forwarded mail packages, from our respective post offices, came today!!!!  Wonder of Wonders.  Neither rain, nor sleet, nor dark of night....

 



 

Atlantic City Boys

Terry and I were home all day.  We both did laundry and Terry cooked and cleaned for a good part of the morning - bless her heart.

I was participating in a conference call as a member of the North Shore-Barrington Association of REALTORS' Board of  Directors for a good part of the morning and into the early afternoon.

Since it was raining, we did not go out until it was time to go to the Savannah Center to hear the Atlantic City Boys.

 

It was a high energy show, similar to the Jersey Boys that we had seen in Chicago a few years ago.

Just received word that a friend's significant other was killed in a car accident in Evanston yesterday.

Rain???

We waited this morning to see if it was going to rain, as predicted.  After lunch, we decided to venture out and take a ride to Cedar Key, since there was no rain.

On our way, it looked threatening, so we changed gears and went to look at a new restaurant on Lake Weir: Eaton's Beach Sandbar and Grill, that was suggested by a friend.  We will go there when the weather is better, but at least we know where it is.

We headed toward Ocala to do an errand, and it started to rain, so we tubed that idea and instead went to Belk's to get my makeup - it was a Clinique gift day!!!  Did I mention that I bought two sweaters - they were on sale and the store almost paid me to take them!

Of course, it had stopped raining!  We went grocery shopping and then went to have dinner at Olive Garden.  We now have leftovers for dinner tomorrow night!

I spent the evening reading materials for the North Shore Barrington Board of REALTORS Board of Directors' meeting, which I will call into tomorrow morning.

Fashions Galore

After stopping at the mail box to mail our deposit check for next year at The Villages, and an envelope for the Township, we were off to pick up a high-school friend, Patti, at Sumter Landing.

Patti lives a bit south of us and only has a golf cart available to her, but she knows how to get to Sumter Landing.  We met at Sweetbay's Grocery Store's parking lot and loaded her folding chair into the car and we were off.

We were headed to an outdoor fashion show at Spanish Springs, put on by all of the stores in that square.  We met Diane there and set our selves up.  But, our location proved to be too sunny so we moved into the shade for the rest of the morning.

Every program had a number of it and you could win a prize if your number was called- this was mine - it was a loser!

After the show, Diane had to go home and prepare to play golf. 

 

We went for lunch at Tera del Sol Country Club and had a delightful lunch sitting on their screened porch.

 



 

 

 

My mail (sent from Skokie on 1/29) finally arrived!!!!  I spent the rest of the afternoon opening mail.

 

Terry did some laundry and took a walk.

 

We had our Mexican left overs for dinner and are getting ready to look at....wait for it......

Shark Tank, two hours worth!  Terry just corrected me and said it is four hours - OMG!

One bam, two crack!

I ran some errands this morning - Bank of America to pay mortgages and then Laurel Manor to get some tickets to the play Love Letters.

Had a quick bite and then had the ladies over for mah jongg!

I had a few good hands, and a few bad hands - all in an afternoon.

We cleaned up the house and went down to the Library so I could return the book about The Villages, that Terry and I both read.

From there, we took a ride to see where the Morse family just bought some property and will put up another 200 homes (in Fruitland Park).  We could not determine the exact location but we think we got pretty close.

Spanish Springs was next, where we enjoyed sitting outside at Ay Jalisco and had some good Mexican food.  That will be our dinner tomorrow night too.

We walked over to the square and listened to the music and wandered the Market Night vendors.  We had not done a Market Night at Spanish Springs since we've been here.  We bought nothing, but it was fun to look.

Came home to do some work for the Township and respond to emails from the on-line school that "employees" me.  Also signed the contract for the same house for next year.

Super Bowl Sunday

We went to Art in the Park and enjoyed the wonderful weather as we looked at the booths with expensive jewelry.  I did get some reasonably priced notecards, so the afternoon was not a total loss.

We visited with the same musical group that we enjoy hearing at Oakton College in Des Plaines, at Empty Bowls, a fund raiser for local charities (including the Niles Township Food Pantry).

We all congratulated each other for having the wisdom to be in Florida this year!

We went to Dollar Tree and then to Panera for lunch.  We had a yummy lunch, and ate outside.

We each had a salad this huge, with a nice roll to go with it.

We "watched" the Super Bowl, but had to check Facebook to see who won, as we were not following the game, just looking at the commercials.  We understand that Seattle won 43-8!

During the game, we had our hot dogs, so we were in the spirit of the day.

Read on a friend's Facebook that another 22 inches of snow is expected in the Chicagoland area this coming weekend.  Is that true??  The same friend is thinking of training her dog to use kitty litter.

Naughty girls

After breakfast, we got dressed and went to Temple - BJBE South.  In the midst of a blizzard, 9 folks from BJBE celebrated their B'nai Mitzvah at BJBE.  We felt awful that we were going to miss it, as we know a number of those in the class, so we watched it on our computers.

We each sat in our recliners and watched on our computers - we had the sound on just one of the computers!  What a great way to go to Temple.  Everyone did such an amazing job.

After the B'nai Mitzvah, we had a bite of lunch and then went to the Writer's League event at Lake Miona Recreation Center.  This year, we did not purchase any books.  We were also going to listen to the jazz in the room next door, but it was too cold in the building.

We decided not to do the Rotary's Chili Cookoff, as it was at Sumter Landing and the parking was going to be tight.  We don't understand why they moved it from the Polo Grounds where there is plenty of parking for huge crowds.

We had also thought about going to a book signing at Barnes and Noble.  The author was signing his second book with The Villages as the backdrop.  But, Barnes and Noble is in Sumter Landing, so the parking for that event would also be tight.

Instead, we were naughty girls and went to The Bonifay Country Club for Dark Chocolate Bread Pudding with ice cream on top and then chocolate and caramel sauce on top.  We did share the dessert.  No photo of the dessert - just a photo of the entrance sign to the club and Terry outside.

 

 

We went to  Walmart for a few items for the Super Bowl (if we watch, it will be for the singing of the Star Spangled Banner-Renee Fleming - and for the commercials).  But, we will eat hot dogs and get into the spirit.  Terry also bought some little tank tops to go under a jacket she had purchased at Beall's Outlet some time ago.  She now has a few outfits out of the jacket.

Shabbat was almost over, so we recycled our newspapers at the Temple, and came home to our Chinese leftovers.
