Brrrrr

Cold, windy.

It's supposed to warm up.

Terry wanted to go to Weight Watchers to weigh in and said she'd buy me breakfast after.  Not one to turn down a free meal, I quickly showered and dressed.

Here was our first stop.

Terry wasn't upset when she left Weight Watchers, so that was a good omen for the rest of the day.

There is a new little restaurant in the same complex - called Sidewalk Cafe.  We each had the 2+2+2.  2 eggs - 2 pancakes or two French toast plus 2 bacon or 2 sausage patties.  Terry got the pancakes, I got the French toast

We both ordered the bacon and I gave mine to Terry.  She LOVES bacon - I don't.

Not crazy about sausage patties either.

We went to Belks, also in the same shopping center.  I pre-ordered my Clinique make up for the gift promotion that start 2/2.

Went to The Savannah Rec Center to register our Glazer cousins for guest passes.  They arrive later in the month.

We next went to the Saddlebrook Box Office for tickets to a play on 2/1.

Stopped at home so Terry could put on warmer clothes.  Her weigh-in clothes are too light weight.

Picked up our newspaper recycling and took it over to Temple Shalom.

Had to check out Beall's, the new Home Goods and the new Marshall's.  We did not buy anything!

Went to Walmart and picked up some groceries.

After bringing the groceries home, we went to Lake Miona to pick up tickets for Same Time Next Year for 1/24.

Last stop was Publix to get dinner for tomorrow night when our cousins Betty and Bill will be here from Philly.

We came home to eat the fresh crab cakes that we got from Walmart.  I'm not sure that a crab every saw these crab cakes.

A little wine made us more tolerant of the crab cakes.

I'm doing laundry and Terry is emailing her girls for some appetizer recipes for a Chicagoland event we are going to attend.

Plaza Cadillac

We both worked in the morning- filing, banking, etc.  Both of us got our Premium Forwarded Boxes yesterday.

Of course the boxes were in a postal box out of our reach!  A jolly green giant helped!

We went to Plaza Cadillac - my car was fine.  They think it may have been bad gas that caused it to stall.

Since we were so close to Mt Dora,  we went there for lunch at our favorite spot.  We ate in the bar as it was too cold for us outside, though some hardy types were eating out there.

Terry had a salad, good girl that she is.  I had a Monte Crisco sandwich - the waitress swore that all calories were removed.  Here's a photo of the historic Lakeside Hotel where we had lunch.

Terry just made a stir fry for dinner!  It was yummy!  So glad that I broughy my cook to Florida with me.

Terry's doing laundry and will participate in Sisterhood's Nominating Committee later (via conference call).

I'm on a serious mission to catch up on my reading.

Late Start

Terry and I both worked into the early afternoon, so we got a late start to run errands.

We went to Bank of America, and tried to go to the box office in Sumter but it was closed - contrary to what was on the website.

Went to CVS and picked up some items.

Came home and found these on our lawn - by the time I got my phone to take a photo, they had moved to a neighbors where they were pecking on his lawn.

Got a call that my car is ready and that they could not find anything wrong.  The mechanic asked for permission to drive it 10 miles to his home to see if he could replicate the stalling.  He's thinking that we may have gotten some bad gas.

We will go to Plaza Cadillac tomorrow

We had our leftover ribs for dinner - they were great!

Met Diane and Tom and Jim and Joyce at Savannah to see South Pacific.  Devin, who was a member of the cast was our waiter last year for opera night at a country club.  We had also seen him at a benefit - Three Tenors + One.

Here's a playbill from Mary Martin and Ezio Pinza on Broadway.  There was no program passed out tonight.  The leads had nice voices, the rest of the cast was just okay!

Ran into Karen and Tom and some of their friends.

Where Did All The Sunshine Go?

Rainy - cool day.

We had a very lazy morning and early afternoon.  Terry made omelets for breakfast.

We finally left the house to explore.  We started at the new Recreation Center-Rohan, it is at the southern most end of Morse Avenue.  The theme there is the history of the Villages from its inception to today.  It is named for a long-time Director of Recreation.

From there, we went to Brownwood (the newest town center.  Too Jays, the deli, just opened there.  The entertainment was performing, but, there was no audience!  Horses and cattle greet you at one of the entrances to Brownwood.  The Main Street is Torch Lake.  The founder's family once owned a restaurant on Torch Lake, in Michigan, not far from Traverse City.

From there, we went to see the newest area of new home construction.  The road in was not completed, so we will have to check it out at another time.

Decided to go to Sonny's for ribs.  We were one of 4 tables.  They said it was quiet all day.  We parked in front.  Drove over to see if anyone was at Sumter Landing (another Town Square) - no audience but musicians were playing.

One man was buying a drink at the outdoor bar!

Left a note in mailbox for mailman - will call post office in the morning to be sure that we get our mail.

We are reading and relaxing!  Nice day in spite of the weather.

Saturday Cloudy and Cool

Our beautiful weather took a break,  it did not want to spoil us!

After lunch, we checked out the Craft Fair at Spanish Springs Town Square.  Terry bought a cute pair of earrings!

I did not buy anything, but, did run into Susan Kelly.  We'll have to set a date.

Ran up to the Flea Market to get a laundry "umbrella" that I use in my second bathroom at home.  My existing one has lost a good number of clips.  It's good for hanging stuff that doesn't go into the dryer.

Entenmann's was our next stop, than gas, and the Beall's Outlet at Mulberry.  Terry says it's the first time that she has left that store without a package!  Color her disappointed.

Home now.  Doing laundry and reading.

Left-over champagne calling to me.  Hopefully putting it in the refrigerator with a spoon in the neck will have kept the bubbles.

2016 - A New Year Has Started

We had a quiet morning.  The Rose Bowl Parade was on at 11 and Terry was cutting veggies to take to the party at Diane and Tom's.

A little before 2, we were out the door.

The party at Diane and Tom's was fun.  Some people whom we had not met before were there in addition to the regulars.

The RV group/Sunday golf group: Kathy, Jack, Pat and Dick - regulars.

+ Joanne (she's not been in town in other years - so it was our first time meeting her).

Karen, Tom, Joyce and Jim other regulars.  Missed Gloria and Lynn who got a late start out of Chicago.

Jim and Judy were back in New York putting their home on the market.

Two new couples: Karen and Doug from Boston and Tracy and Ron from Minnesota.

Lots of yummy appetizers, fun card game where you move from table to table.  We were NOT winners!  Then do- it- yourself sundaes and cookies galore!  Yum!

Home now catching up on reading.  Shark Tank on tonight at 9 - guess what we will be doing at 9?

Happy New Year!

We worked and then went to Weight Watchers for Terry to weigh in - last weigh-in of 2015.

On to Sumter Landing to meet Ethel and Steve for lunch - we are early so stop to say hello to Barbara at Hallmark, which is next door.  We need to set a date to get together with them.

Ethel and Steve got here yesterday after a challenging ride down.

Had a nice lunch at Too Jays.  Ate too much!  They were going home to binge watch college football games.  No line to get into Too Jays, that will not happen again when snowbirds all come down!  Wait, WE ARE snow birds!

Took a photo for Jeff to prepare him for his visit to Too Jays later in the month.

I think he only comes to visit for the rugelach at Too Jays!

A nap, some reading, New Years phone calls and texts.  Found out that Bevi's son did the lighting for the star that will fall at midnight in Chicago.  A big deal thing to rival New York.  Jeremy worked for that company for a few Summers.

We were too full from lunch to eat the big dinner we had planned, so just had shrimp, salad and, of course, Champagne.  We are feeling no pain.
