Jazz

Another rainy day, but between rain drops, we went to The Savannah Center to a noon jazz concert.

Some people brought a lunch, but we had eaten our left-over pancakes for breakfast and it was too early for another meal.

Not a good picture as they turned down the lights.  But there was a bass player, a keyboardist, a drummer and a guest trumpet player.  All were excellent.

It was a great hour and Diane joined us.  Unfortunately, Tom got tied up working and missed it.

Since it was just drizzling when we left Savannah Center, we ran to the bank where I paid one of my credit card bills and then to the postal station to mail a birthday card.

We came home and had some deli for lunch and then because it was so dreary, a nap overtook both of us.

We read a little, had some left-over chicken for dinner and are getting ready to see The Big Bang TV show.  I think it is a very clever show and soooo funny.

Tomorrow, some friends come in for the week and Diane, Terry and I were plotting out the week that they will be here before we parted at the Savannah Center.

BTW:  Have I said that we both work most mornings and sometimes when we come back home after an activity.  So it is not all play!!!!

Errands and more Errands

We had a cup of coffee and left the house for our first stop:  Weight Watchers, so Terry could weigh in.  She is doing great, so we went to celebrate with pancakes at First Watch!  Yummy!  We each took half of them home and will have them for brunch tomorrow.

We then went to Dollar Tree (of course), it was in the neighborhood!

On to Belks, where I bought some boots.  My boots would not make another snow and the way things are going, we may have snow when we come back in March!!!  Boo!! Who knew that Florida Department stores would have winter boots - but, they do and they were on sale!

Next we went to Target and bought the only size Kleenex that fits in my car side pockets.  It seems as if Target is the only store that carries that size.

Went to another Beall's outlet and each bought something and used our $5 off certificate!

I bought a top to wear with my jogging suit.  BTW:  Our friend Fran says that I don't have to worry about jogging that my suit will do it on its own.  I'm wondering, will I lose weight if it jogs on its own?

The other day, I bought a sweater to go with the suit too - so, I'm all set.

Terry bought a cute white summer jacket.

We went to Walgreens to pick up our prescriptions and you'd think that they were giving something away, there were about six or seven people in line in front of us and as many behind us!

We then got gas and recycled our newspapers at Temple Shalom.

Visiting with a Friend

The morning started out with a very wet newspaper in the driveway.  I called and they delivered a fresh one within a half hour and then called to make sure that we got the new one!  The Chicago Tribune should take note!

We went to have lunch with our friend Norm, who is in an independent-living place in Orlando for the winter.  For the past few years, he and his late wife, Sharon, came to The Villages, and we enjoyed their company so much.  Sharon died suddenly and Norm does not cook, so this place (which is closer to one of his son's and family) works well.  We went to Too Jays and for the first time did not have to wait for a table.

After we left lunch and dropped Norman off, we realized that we had not taken his photo for the blog.

I tried to crop a photo from last year, but that did not work.  So, take our word for it, he looks good.

Yea!  Terry got it cropped!  He looks the same as last year!!

From there we went to a mall and went into a few stores where we had gift cards, but did not find anything to buy.

Next was Costco.  There is NO Costco in The Villages and we miss it.  We bought some chickens and two big bags of popcorn - Skinny Pop!  Come on over, we have plenty of popcorn!

Got on the turnpike and found that our new transponder works!!!  Yea!  We are Floridians now!

We are now watching Shark Tank.  Some inventions are just too funny.  One was a Bluetooth that is implanted into the ear through surgery.  You charge it with a stick that you put into your ear!  NO ONE INVESTED!

Warm then Cool

The day started out in the 70's and then moved into the 40's.

At 10 a.m., I met Susan Kelly at Starbucks in Sumter Landing.  Susan, too, is a past president of the North Shore Board of REALTORS.  She and her husband moved to The Villages last year on a full-time basis.  We had spoken on the telephone last year but did not have time to meet then.

 

 

 

 

 



When I got back home, Terry and I had lunch and then decided because it had turned cool (I know everything is relative) we would go to the movies.  We saw Saving Mr. Banks, which we both enjoyed.  We saw Mary Poppins, at the Marriott Theater this year, so the story was fresh in our minds.

Since we went to the movie at Sumter Landing,  it was a short walk over to Sonny's for ribs.

I thought Terry was taking a photo of just the ribs, but I got into the photo too.

 

 

 

 

From there, we went to Diane and Tom's and picked up Terry's mail.  Yea, Des Plaines Post Office.

However, their machines ate one of her tenant's rent checks - half of the check and half of the envelope were in a special Post Office apology envelope!  





Beautiful Day in Paradise

We are reading about the weather in Chicago and have had text messages from the kids that school is closed.  We ALMOST feel guilty not being there.

Yesterday, I mentioned not jogging, just because I own a jogging suit.  Saw this on Facebook and thought I'd share:

We ran over to the Marion Flea Market and did a little damage.

Then went to a cute little deli, Lil Bits Café, near us for lunch.

Followed by going to Sumter Landing and sitting listening to music, before coming home for left-over salmon.

Craft Fair

Today we went to Spanish Springs for our first craft fair of the winter.  Grocery shopping and Beall's Outlet where I got a jogging suit!  NO, I will NOT be jogging!

Terry made us salmon for dinner and we are now watching a program about house flipping in Las Vegas!
