A Tree Grows in Central Florida

After working, and having some left overs for lunch, we headed out the door to enjoy the sunshine.

We decided to go to Lake Griffin State Park, home to a large oak tree.

We paid our $5 at the entrance.

We then drove down to see the camping sites.  They are large and shaded.  We discovered a sign later that indicated that the road was for registered campers only!

Oh well, we wanted our $5 worth.

We then parked in the parking lot and hiked a trail to see the oak tree.

Have you seen the redwoods in California?  This tree pales in comparison.

We then went down by the boat launch area.  Some people were fishing.

We took photos of the boat that goes out on Saturdays.

One of the signs said Florida Environmental something so Terry photographed it and sent it in a text to Jeremy.

After the excitement of seeing the oak tree, we went to Publix.  Terry went in to pick up a few items while I talked to the Township.  While talking to them, I somehow set off the car's alarm!  That was good for a few laughs.  This keyless-entry system is challenging!

We came home to change clothes and leave for dinner at Bonefish with Arlene, Joan, Ethel and Steve.  Fortunately, we had a reservation, as it was packed.  

All of the ladies had the Tuesday 3-course special.  We had salad, entree and to-kill-for desserts.  Steve opted for just an entree, off of the regular menu.

We came home and Terry watched Finding Your Roots and Shark Tank.

I've been on some business calls and handling some business emails, and, of course, doing the blog.

Jammie Day

We had a quick breakfast with Melanie before she took off for Tampa.

Shortly after she left, Clem (the house caretaker) came over to fix a part in Terry's toilet.  He also tried to fix the vacuum cleaner, but could not.  He took it with him.

Terry was doing laundry - den linens, and towels for the balance of the morning.

After lunch, I did laundry.

Are you excited yet, me either.  Warning it doesn't get more exciting.

I have been trying to catch up on reading - 3 days of newspapers and months of Good House Keeping magazines.

Still have Better Homes and Garden Magazines and 2-3 novels!

Hopefully tomorrow the sun will be out, it will be less windy, and warmer!

We did not leave the house all day in celebration of President's Day.

Did catch up by phone with some Chicago friends so the day was not a total loss.

Visitor

We worked this morning until our guest arrived.

Melanie arrived around 1 pm and we picked up Arlene and Joan for the Glazer/Sachsel tour of The Villages.

We went south and then North into the historic district.

Arlene and Joan had not seen the Rohan Regional Center or the walking area at the preserve.

We dropped Arlene and Joan off to change clothes.

At 6 pm everyone was back at our house for salad and a spaghetti dinner.

Delightful Day

We both spent the morning paying bills and working through our weekly box of mail.  Terry's box is supposed to come next day air- never comes next day.

We sent something to Fran that she had requested.  Had to take it to the Pack and Ship as the Post Office closed five minutes before we got there.

Also ran to Chase Bank.  Yes, Mindy, I have the Chase app, but it is hard to teach an old dog new tricks.  Bow wow!

Picked up Arlene and Joan to go to The Ice House Theater, in Mt Dora, to see Funny Money.  Great actors - funny play.

Went to Lakeside Inn Hotel for an early dinner.  Nice view of the lake from the bar until the blinds were drawn as it was too bright for those at the bar.

Gave Arlene and Joan a tour of Mt Dora, by car, as it was too cool to walk.

Sunny Day

We decided to take a ride to the Lakeridge Winery, in Clemont.  We went mainly to go to the craft fair.  There was music (people brought their own chairs to sit and listen to the music)

We did not have time to do the wine tour or tasting.  Terry bought a pair of earrings.  We split a warm pretzel!

Note to self:  Don't wear open toed shoes.  We both came home and had to shake the sand out of our shoes and wash our feet.

We paid the $2 entrance fee which went to a charity.

We parked on grass at the bottom of a hill.  They had golf carts taking people to and from their cars.  Pretty bumpy ride, but, nice service.

We came home to change clothes for an early dinner at Cheng's with Ethel and Steve and Arlene and Joan.  The place was very busy and lots of takeout orders.

We then all went to Temple Shalom for services.

WARMER

Today, the sun was shinning and it was a little warmer.

We worked, had lunch and headed to Publix to finish our grocery shopping.

Put the groceries away and read before having a quick dinner.

We then picked up Arlene and Joan and went to Mulberry Grove Recreation Center for a program that Terry and I have enjoyed the past couple of years.  

A  husband and wife portray the Presidents and their First Ladies.  This year they did Ronald and Nancy Reagan.

We plan to listen to the Democratic Debate tonight.

Music, Music,Music

I was on a web conference call for a good part of the morning with the Illinois and National Association of Realtors.  It was a training session for the members of the Congessional contact teams.

Terry too was working at her computer for the morning.

The overnight package from the Township came and I spent part of the afternoon working on that.  With Terry's help I got it scanned.

By then it was time to change clothes, go to the post office and pick up Arlene and Joan.

We went to Tierra Del Sol Country Club to hear the singing waiters.  We met Diane and Tom and Barb and Bernie there.

While at dinner, I got a text from Barb and John with a photo of the BJBE Arizona group.

Is anyone left in Deerfield?
