Nice Day in The Villages

We went to pick up our mail on Tom and Diane's porch and then drove over to the Chili Cook Off, at the Polo Field.  You paid $5 for a wrist band which entitled you to as much chili as you could eat.

We'd never seen so many golf carts in one place.  There were numerous booths each serving chili in little cups.  We were supposed to vote for our favorite, but we did not.  They used to have this event at Spanish Springs (one of the Squares) but it was too small a venue.  The Polo Field is enormous and the carts and cars just kept streaming in.  The traffic on Buena Vista was tied up as people were pulling into the venue.

We had to go to H&R Block and have their chili (after all Terry had worked for them at one time).  Their chili was pretty good.

We also stopped at the Sheriff's booth, where they were dressed as prisoners, and you had to walk through a jail cell set up to get the chili!

Diane and Tom called when they arrived at the Cook Off, and we got to see them for a minute before we left.

It was a beautiful day in The Villages and the weather could not have been better.

We went home and rested a little before Sharon, Norm, Steve and Ethel came over for dinner.  Had a nice visit with them and enjoyed hearing what activities they each hoped to take advantage of while here.
