On the Road

Answered student questions and had breakfast.  Meanwhile, we were doing linens and then towels.

Left the house at 8:36 a.m.!!!!  Earlier than we had planned.

I-75 all the way.

Lunch at Chick- a -fil.  My first time - it was just okay.

Dinner at Carrabba's walking distance from the hotel.  Terry and I shared a salad, a dinner and a dessert!  Perfect.

Boo-Hoo

We worked and had a little breakfast.  Terry spoke to her doctor's office and went to pick up a prescription at Walmart, while I waited for the cleaning crew.

Four ladies came into the house and took it by storm.  We had our big suitcases out in the garage so they could vacuum the closet floors.

What do you do while your house has four people in it - sit on the front porch.

We had some lunch and then I relaxed while Terry cleaned out the refrigerator (leaving food for breakfast)

We picked up Arlene and Joan and went to Cheng's for dinner.  Terry and I shared a dinner, with extra soup and egg roll.  Arlene and Joan did the same.  Delicious.

They came back to the house so Joan could get some of our left-over coffee for her breakfast.

We spoke with Ethel and set a date for the five of us to play mah jongg when we get back into town.

We are sad to be leaving - hence the boo-hoo.  Packed up the trunk (everything fit).  Will put our hotel suitcases in the car tomorrow and we will be off.

Did I say boo-hoo!!!!

Packing - Yuck!!!

We worked this morning and started to pack up some stuff.

Went over to Diane and Tom's to see how they were coming with the house that they bought next door to their house.  They bought it to fix it up and flip it.

They have done a lot of work and Diane is having a field day shopping for things to make the house look good for future buyers.

A neighbor's friend may want to purchase the property - we'll see!

We left a box for them to keep in their garage and also dropped off a bottle of wine that we had not touched.

From there we went to The Glenview Country Club for lunch.  Service was a little slow but the food was good.  We sat on the porch and overlooked the golf course.  It was raining so not much golfing going on.

From there we went to the Dollar Tree to get some baggies for the packing process.

Came home and rested for a little while and then started to pack.  I almost needed a 300 lb man to sit on my suitcase.  I did get it closed.  We are not happy about leaving as the weather in Chicago sucks.

Watched Finding Your Roots and playing catch up on some magazines.  I swear my magazines are multiplying - perhaps they have a sex life.  A comedian (whose name escapes me right now) used to say that about hangers.

Technology and Blood Pressure

I got up early and answered student mail.  Terry got up and went to her computer to discover that she had our Internet on her computer twice (both showing connected) - one of which was a public site and not our secure Internet.  She also could not connect to a business hosted site or her email.

Hours spent speaking with Comcast and Samsung were useless.  It started about 10 a.m. or so and went to about 2 p.m. with no resolution.

She had her telephone on speaker and was speaking with people with deep accents (which she seemed to understand, but I could not).

My frustration level was escalating and I left to go to the bank and to the postal station.

When I got back she was no further along than when I left.  I called my computer experts at my REALTOR Board and they sent me some ideas. Terry now cannot get onto the Internet to try what they sent.

Terry has been taking her blood pressure most mornings - I suggested that she not take it today!  I know mine was sky high just listening for hours to her conversations.

It was a beautiful day and we won't have any more of those for a long time, as rain is in the forecast for the next couple of days and then we go home to Chicago - boo-hoo.

We finally got in the car and headed out.  Planned to go recycle our newspapers (even put them in the car) but forgot!

Went to Sumter Landing and walked around, in and out of stores (bought nothing), and listened to the music for a few minutes.

Came home for dinner - we are cleaning out the freezer and refrigerator.

At 8 p.m. here, I did Google Hangout into the Township Meeting.  The meeting, fortunately, did not last too long and we are both reading now.

Our Senior Rabbi's father in law just passed away and her husband is on his way to Israel and she will follow.  Terry's been keeping track and that is the 10th death since we have been down here.  Scary as hell as some are older, but a number are our age or younger.

Spanish Springs

As usual, the day started with working, paying bills, etc.  After breakfast, we picked up Arlene and Joan to get to Spanish Springs Art Fair before it got too hot or crowded.

It did get warm, but it was not too crowded.  Terry bought some earrings from a woman whom we have bought from before.

We sat watching the action for awhile and then went to lunch at Gator's Dockside.  Started outside, but a man with a cigar was smoking and we moved inside, since the patio is a smoking venue.

On the patio before having to move.

We all had salads and enjoyed our lunch after Terry got our sweaters out of the car.  After lunch, we went outside and sat watching people until it was time to go to the movies.  Guess who we saw - Ethel and Steve:

We went across the way to the movies to see the movie about Ruth Bader Ginsberg - On the Basis of
Sex.  Great picture.

We came home to watch the Academy Awards.

In the meantime, we received notice that our friend Sue Splansky has passed away, she had just gone into hospice.

This is the second funeral we are missing this week.

Arts and Crafts Day

Work and laundry took up a few hours and then we went over to the Lady Lake Post Office to pick up the package of checks from the Township.  Usually, they leave the checks on the porch, but they left a notice of attempted delivery on the porch yesterday.

I signed the checks there and sent the package right back, hopefully, they will get it on Monday.

Terry and I also signed mail forwarding cards so no mail for us will be in the box after we leave.

We both got our last priority mail boxes yesterday.

From the post office, we went to Colony Cottage where they were having an arts and crafts boutique.

One of the artists, Dorien Downes, has this adorable painting that Terry just had to have.  It was very reasonably priced.

From there we went to Lake Miona.

We each bought a drop and I bought a pair of earrings.  Everything was so reasonable that you could not resist.

We came home to eat.  Had wanted to sit outside, but it was much too hot to do so.

Spent the rest of the evening reading.

Terry's Summer Girl

After working and breakfast, we headed to Brandon Mall, in Brandon, FL.  It is a Westfield Mall and enormous.

We were meeting Terry's second summer girl, Dorothy, at Bahama Breeze Restaurant in the shopping center.  For those unfamiliar with the term summer girl, let us explain.  When Terry's kids were young, Terry needed help keeping them occupied during the summer months and she and some friends hired girls from Iowa to help with the kids.  Dorothy was with her the second summer of hiring summer help.

Dorothy is a lovely young woman. She and her husband, Steve, came to the girls' weddings and Terry and she have been in touch all of these years.  Her husband is a doctor, she has three boys (two of whom are married and each of whom has two boys).

Her mother's family included a Vice President of the United States and other prominent individuals.  After her mother died, she and her siblings decided to donate the memorabilia that her mother had to the local historical society in the small town her mother was from out east.  They were elated to get the collection.

Dorothy still lives on the lake in Missouri and they have bought a place in Venice, FL for winters.  Steve is commuting back and forth and anticipates that his job should be ended by December.

It was a little over an hour drive for each of us.

High School Friends

We worked and read for a good part of the day and then went to Michael's as Terry was looking for a chain for the drops she bought.  She had no luck.

We came back to the house and Terry had to write some checks for Sisterhood and I took a call about the Township.

We decided to drive directly back to Chicago and I made the hotel reservations.  We already have plans to have dinner the second night on the road with Ethel and Steve.

We finally got out of the house and we were a little late in getting to Joyce's.  Everyone was surprised that we were not there first and they started to get worried - we have a reputation for being early

We had a delicious dinner with Joyce, Evie, Diane and Tom.

Evie's cord for her oxygen was the longest cord and we were all worried about stepping on it and causing the oxygen to stop flowing.

We played GO and Diane won!  Terry was the biggest loser!  Not that we play for money!

We forgot to take a photo!

As we were riding home, Terry was reading her email and learned that a childhood Temple friend (who is much younger than us) has gone into hospice.  She's the second friend this week to go into hospice.  Our friend Audrey's husband is the second one.  Very sad.

Ethel

We spent the morning working (are you bored with that sentence- I know I am).

I was even lobbying against rent control from here.  Called one of the new state representatives (who I helped elect) to ask her to vote no on the bill to lift the sanctions on rent control in Illinois. She's on the committee hearing the bill.  While we all want affordable housing, rent control is not the answer.

We left the house to head to Brownwood Town Center and the TooJays Restaurant to meet Ethel (our friend Fran's cousin-her mother and I were friends also).

Ethel had a taste for pastrami and I had a taste for salami.  The waitress said they no longer carry salami as there was no demand for it!  Okay, I'll have a corned beef sandwich on rye.

We ordered a piece of chocolate cake for Ethel's birthday and she took most of it home, even though we all tasted it. Happy 63 Ethel!!!  She's recovering from some surgery, but looked good and was in great spirits.

As we were walking out, there was a Kosher salami in the deli refrigerated case.  Terry asked to see the manager.  We told him what the waitress said and he said, of course, we have salami!  They no longer carry the Genoa Salami, but still have the Kosher salami.  He asked where we had been sitting and said he would speak with the waitress. BTW:  The corned beef was very good and their rye bread is to die for.

We had some spaghetti for dinner and I had a glass of wine.  Terry decided against wine as she has a conference call with Mindy and their company.

Terry talked with Stacy and Jessica was under the weather.  Hope she's feeling better real soon.

Chicagoland Club

We spent most of the day working until we finally got dressed and ran over to the post office and Chase Bank.

We then picked up Arlene and Joan to go to the Chicagoland Club.

Clark Barrios was the entertainer and he was fantastic.  We saw Joyce and Evie and Joy and Bob there.  Dinner was sub sandwiches, chips and cupcakes.  Everyone brought their own drinks.

Arlene, Diane and Tom doing the electric slide

Terry used to know how to do the slide but felt too rusty to go up and dance.

Cousins!

Got up early to work so we could have a bite of breakfast and make our way to Dade City.

When we got to Dade City, they were preparing for a parade.  Our cousins had to park across the parade route and get permission to cross the street while the parade was going on.

We met cousins Betty, Bill and Matthew Shapiro, and Matthew's girl friend Natalie, for lunch at
Kafe Kokipelli in Dade City.

We had a great lunch, including she-crab soup!  That is the non-Kosher part of the group had that soup... Terry, Natalie and me!

After lunch the six of us wandered into the antique shops and I was the only one who bought anything. I bought a pair of candle holders in blue and white. We also did go into the friendliest quilt shop, who were still friendly even after it was clear that none of us were quilters.

Betty and Bill

Natalie and Matthew

Cousins (our grandfather and Betty's great-grandmother were brother and sister)

Since Natalie and Matthew had to get to the Tampa Airport for their trip back to New York City, we had to say good-bye.

We left Dade City and bought some gas, right before getting onto I-75.  But we had to move pumps and the gas was way more expensive than in The Villages, we only bought $10 worth.

Got off of I-75 in Wildwood and went to the Dollar Tree and then topped off the gas tank at the station near the house.

We sat outside to read the newspaper as it was such a nice day.

We had a light dinner, including homemade rolls.  Glad that my cook is still working!

We just fnished watching Antiques Roadshow for two hours and we are going to be heading to bed.

Beautiful, quiet day

Laundry and work took up most of my morning.  Terry did her laundry later in the day.

After lunch, we went to Beall's and I got a top that I have been looking for,

Terry talked to the girls and Jessica and her bowling team were having a sleep over at Stacy's.

Mindy had shoveled the snow. It always seems to snow when Glenn is out of town.  Mindy sent a correction, her neighbor snow plowed her drive.  It snowed again overnight and she is leaving it as a present for Glenn!!!

Stacy had to shovel snow also.  What a winter!

We had talked about going to a concert, but Terry wanted to just chill out.

So after coming back from Beall's we sat outside in the delightful weather and read the newspapers.

After dinner, I tried to catch up on some of my magazines.

Watched a program about Princess Margaret, and if I could have understood the accents, I would have enjoyed the show more.

Terry has been busy reading on her I-Pad.

Typical Day in Paradise

The weather was delightful today and we enjoyed friends all day.

After breakfast and opening mail (yes, both of our packages came yesterday), we went to meet Joy at First Watch for lunch. We were Joy's second stop in a seven stop day!  We'd love to bottle her energy

We ran over to Lake Miona Recreation Center for the Glass Fusion Show.  Terry bought three drops.
I just bought a lottery ticket.  They have not called, so I'm assuming that I am a loser.

Next was a stop at Russell Stover's for some reduced valentine's candy.  We bought a wrapped piece of candy for everyone at dinner tonight.

After a much needed nap, we went across the street  to Arlene and Joan's for dinner.  We had appetizers and wine and then salad, pork chops, sweet potatoes, veggies, yummy bread and key lime pie for dessert.

Great conversation and much sharing of telephone secrets.  Terry and Steve got Joan's missing app back on her telephone.  Ethel was busy helping Arlene with her telephone.  We got our travel blog up on Arlene and Joan's telephones.

Shabbat Shalom

After breakfast  and lunch, and working, we left the house because we had a lot of errands to run.

Our first stop was to return the awful key lime pie to Publix.  From there we went to the Temple to recycle three bags of newspapers.

Stopped at Walgreen where Terry got some liquid band aid for her hand.

Next was AAA for some maps of states that we will be going through.  Terry had purged her maps when she was on a cleaning spree at her house so we had to replace the maps.

Anthony's had sent me a flyer and Terry wanted to see what they had as everything in the store was up to 50% off.  She got 20% off after they scratched the card I had gotten in the mail.  Terry found two blouses.  She was happy.  I tried on some things but they were all too long.

We stopped at the Dollar Tree on the South end of The Villages and I bought a few things and Terry got some get-well cards.

We had hoped to stop at Stover's Candy but ran out of time.

Came home to change clothes and pick up Arlene and Joan to go to dinner before Temple.

We tried the new Mexican restaurant - Habaneros.  Ethel and Steve joined us for dinner.  Our dinners were all good.

As we walked into Temple, Stacy called to say that Jessica's bowling team, that made the state finals, came in 18 out of 100 teams.  They are staying overnight in Rockford.

The Temple has a new Rabbi, who was losing his voice when he was singing.  Hopefully, it is not anything serious.  He seems to have a good sense of humor.  When he got to the prayer for the ill, he asked people in the audience for names of people for whom the prayer should be said - that took 10 minutes!!!  The choir was full and I only recognized two people from prior years.

Love Songs

I worked in the morning on answering student questions, reviewing articles for the Township Newsletter and reviewing a Food Pantry Flyer.

Terry made us French toast for breakfast - yummy!

I then went into a two-hour meeting with the Political Affairs Committee of my REALTOR Board.

We then had shrimp for lunch and Terry went grocery shopping while I read the paper, tried to finish Wednesday's crossword, and answered emails.

She then made a delicious dinner of stuffed red peppers.  They were delicious!

We ate early so we could get to St. Timothy's Church early to get good seats.  However, by the time we parked and got in line, we were pretty far back.  Fortunately, the church has TV Cameras so you can see what is going on.  We met Diane and Tom there.

As you walk into the Church, this is what you see on the bench to the left of the entry.

It looks like a real person laying on the bench - see sign below.

As we left the church, Terry was looking in one direction and walking in another and took a little spill as she collided with a curb.  She's got a scraped hand, but is okay.  We cleaned her up and put bandaids on her hand in the car before leaving the parking lot.

We then drove over to Perkins where Diane and Tom were waiting for us.  We all had pie.  Terry had Key Lime pie (she had bought a little one earlier in the day from Publix and it was AWFUL).  So it was good that she had her key lime.  They were out of eclairs so I had french silk pie.

Cool, Rainy Day

Today was cool and rainy and we worked a good part of the day.

I even ironed - I'm getting so domestic!!!

We did catch up with the Finding Your Roots program that we missed seeing last night.  Former Speaker of the House, Paul Ryan, found out that he was 3% Jewish.

We finally got dressed and left the house for dinner at Barb and Bernie's.

Barb always gives us some food to take home.  Today it was two chocolate strawberries for Valentine's Day.

She made a wonderful dinner  We had lots of laughs and conversation.

They served champagne and I thought I would have to have Bernie help me get Terry into the car, as she had two glasses - but, she was fine.

We talked about Ron Miller, who was one of Terry's favorite religion instructors.  Terry mentioned his book, Wisdom of the Carpenter, that we both enjoyed,  and Barb had me order it from Amazon Prime while we were finishing our dessert..

Josh Groban

After working and breakfast, we went over to Walgreens for Terry to pick up a prescription.  The prescription was transferred from Walmart, who could not fill it.  It cost her considerably more money at Walgreens and she'll be following up on that.

We then went to check out the house that Diane and Tom bought, next door to them, to fix up and flip.  They have a lot of work ahead of them, but they can do it.

We had a bite of lunch and then went over to Arlene and Joan's.  We were supposed to have played mah jongg with them and Ethel.  Ethel, however, had fell ill during exercising and was not feeling up to playing.  Terry suggested that instead of mah jongg, Arlene and Joan teach us canasta.  I printed the rules out and they were not in complete agreement with them, but we played.  Still lots to learn.

We then headed to Spanish Springs for dinner.  We decided to go to Gator's Dockside for dinner.  (There is no body of water nearby, so it really is not Dockside of anything- also no gators in sight).  We sat outside and the food was good.

It started to pour, which squashed the plan to walk in the square and view the vendors. By the time we all visited the restroom, the rain had stopped and we walked across the street to the theater to see a movie of the Madison Square Garden concert with Josh Groban - it was a one-night only opportunity.  We went to the 7:30 performance and there had been a 5:30 performance.  We had to wait in the lobby, in line (we were the third group) until the 5:30 performance exited - we were in line about 40 minutes.  The concert was excellent, but the theater was much too cold.

Pretty Toes

We worked and did laundry for most of the morning.

It was a beautiful day and we wasted it being the domestic divas that we are.

We finally left the house to get pedicures, at Angela's Nails - our nails are now so pretty!

After dinner, I participated in the Township meeting via Google Hangout.

Change of Plans

Our plan was to go to hear Patchouli at Yalaha Bakery.  However, when we woke up it was raining and the forecast for the rest of the day was not good.

Texting back and forth, with Joan,, we decided that we would not go to the bakery and sit in rain.

I was feeling a little guilty about that decision until I got a Facebook message from Bruce and Julie that the bakery had cancelled them.

So Plan B was to play mah jongg in the afternoon.  Arlene, Joan, and Joyce came over and we played mah jongg for a couple of hours.  Arlene and Joyce did not win once, Joan was hot and had multiple wins.  Terry and I did okay.

Arlene brought over a book that she had been reading, a mystery that included recipes.  There was much conversation about a recipe in the book made with pork chops.  So, Terry made us pork chops for dinner (not the recipe in the book - but good).

We were both reading for the rest of the night - I am only one day behind now on the newspapers.

I was also watching old reruns of The Big Bang Theory and Young Sheldon on my phone.

Friends of Long Standing

I worked for hours this morning on Township business and Terry prepared for our guests.

Our friend Fran's sister, Carol, and her domestic partner Harry, came for lunch.  They recently moved to Florida from California.  Carol's two children are both in Florida now (her daughter just moved down from New Jersey).  The daughter wanted to be in the area and they decided that they should all be in the same state to help as Carol's Alzheimers advances. Harry is very devoted, they have been together over 30 years, and he takes good care of Carol.

We had a yummy brunch and much conversation. We decided to sit outside because it looked sunny out, but discovered that it was too cool to sit out there.

After Carol and Harry left, we ran to the postal station and my box was there (Terry's was there yesterday).  We also run over to Bealls' Outlet to return something that Terry had purchased.  She did find something else she liked that looked cute on her.

Terry is watching The Marvelous Mrs. Mayzel as she wanted to see some of it before we meet our cousin Matthew who works on the show.   Haven't seen him in awhile and we are looking forward to seeing him and his girlfriend.  We saw his brother, and his girlfriend, this winter when they were in Florida.

I've been busy opening mail and doing some work.

Beautiful and Busy Day

It was a beautiful day and after working and doing some laundry, we left the house to pick up Arlene and Joan for a trip to the flea market - Market at Marion.  We all helped the economy up there with our purchases.

We then went to lunch at Beef O'Brady's, at Mulberry Plaza, and then checked out the Beall's Outlet up there.  Terry and I did not buy anything, but Arlene and Joan did.

We came home to rest and have a bite to eat before changing clothes and going out to a concert.  I called the Township and learned that the new state representative dropped in for a visit.  He made a favorable impression with the employees.

We picked up Arlene and Joan and met Ethel and Steve at Sea Breeze Recreation Center for a concert with Mary Jo Vitale and Clark Barrios.  It was a great concert and we all enjoyed it.

Arlene and Joan came back here for cake and tea.

High School Friends

Today was beautiful and we enjoyed being out, even if it was just going to the grocery store.

Worked before we left for the grocery store and spent a good part of the day trying to get all of the pieces in place to have attorneys in the Township Office who would work with immigrants on immigrant rights issues.

Terry did some cleaning! I thought the cleaning lady I used to bring to Florida with me had quit.  But, I guess I had been wrong.

Terry cooked another good dinner of appetizer, salmon, rice, salad, rolls, dessert.  I'm glad the cook that I bring down with me has not quit!

Diane,Tom and Joyce were our guests and we had a lovely evening talking, drinking, eating, and playing cards.  Diane, Joyce, Terry and I went to high school together just a few years ago.

Slow Start Day

Today was a slow-start day.  We talked to Judy and Jeff after our breakfast, to report on our visit with our new cousin Malcolm.

We finally got out of the house and wanted to eat outside.  Since I had some makeup on order at Belk's that I wanted to pick up, we ate in the same shopping center at the Chicken Salad Chicks.  It was delicious.

We both looked at Belk's sale racks, but bought nothing.

As long as we were in the area, we stopped into Beall's Outlet, where I bought a pair of sandals and Terry bought some tops.  We do our summer shopping while we have the chance down here.  We are generally too busy at home  to shop.

We came home and had some wine on the patio - enjoying every nice day that we can!!!

South Beach to Home

As we mentioned in an early post, the hotel was strange.  At 4 a..m., the big screen TV that faced the beds went from black screen to bright grey screen.  The remote was nowhere near us - in 15 minutes it went off.  Of course by then I was wide awake.  I did fall back to sleep eventually.

Also, you could not turn on any light independent - without the main switch on (near the door leading into the room).  So, if you went to the bathroom at night, you could not turn on the bathroom light without turning on all lights in the room.  Perfect when you have a roommate -NOT.

We got dressed and went down for breakfast.  The continental breakfast was $18 per person, and the full buffet was $24 per person.  But, because I'm a Hilton Honors Member, our breakfasts (full buffet) were free.

When we checked out, I asked to see the manager and told him that I have traveled a lot and stayed in Hilton Hotels and this was the most disappointing stay.  I told him about the TV and the lights.  He took off the $42 parking charge!

We took a trip down memory lane and drove past two places where we lived in Florida.

411 - 82nd Terrace

9500 West Bay Harbor Drive - Bay Harbor Islands

We got on I-95 and went to pick up Joan at her Aunt's place.  Her aunt was so glad that she had visited and didn't want her to leave!

Aunt Ellie and Joan

We got on the Turnpike and headed home.  I did the driving and we did multiple stops, including one for lunch.

Got back to The Villages and stopped at the Postal Station and Terry's package was there.  My package was on the porch when we left yesterday.  Terry just brought it into the house and I'll open it later tonight.

When we got home, it was such a wonderful day that we decided to have cheese and crackers and pita chips and humus on the back patio.  Called Joan and she brought her own wine bottle over.  Arlene was at a movie that she had wanted to see.

Came in the house and answered student emails and am working on blogs, expenses, and need to unpack (Terry's already unpacked).

Monday - February 4, 2019

Sorry that I could not post this yesterday, but Google and Apple do not get along.

Picked up Joan at 9 am for our ride south.

We stopped for a couple of potty breaks and lunch at a nice oasis.

Dropped Joan at her Aunt’s retirement home. Said hello to her Aunt and moved on to South Beach and the Gates Hotel.

Strange Hotel but clean.

We got to our hotel and Terry called our new cousin, Malcolm, whom we met in the lobby.

Terry gave him pages of family.tree that Cousin July did. Called Judy and let them talk and get acquainted. I took a photo of Terry and Malcolm.

It got cool outside where we were sitting and we needed to change clothes for dinner.

We met Malcolm, and his partner Anthony, in the lobby.

Grabbed a cab to go meet Rick and Elaine at the restaurant Osteria Del Teatro.

Elaine, Anthony, Rick, Terry, Malcolm and Marilyn

Had a nice evening!

They leave early in the morning so we said our good byes at the elevator.  We encouraged Malcolm to have his brother do his DNA.  We are still working on whose child one of his parents was.

They are going back to the islands where Malcolm is trying a case.

They own a 7 bedroom house in France that they want to sell. Bought a piece of land in Antigua on which they plan to build a house.

Anthony’s father, a dentist, was knighted for his WWII efforts. He was a spy. They hid a Jewish family. Was part of the resistance of the Dutch. Gave himself up to the Germans. Was a dentist in a concentration camp.

Anthony's family owns the third largest jewelry store in England.  He tried being a restaurant owner when he and his mother had a falling out over the jewelry business.

And The Winner Is!!!!!

We left the house after lunch to pick up Arlene and Joan to go to the Ice House Theater, in Mt. Dora, to see the play Over The Tavern.

The Theater always sells 50/50 raffle tickets and Terry and I each bought some.  Terry won - $131.00!!!!

She insisted on treating us all to dinner at Longhorn Steak House.  So, we were all winners!!!

We have started preparing for our trip to South Beach and cannot really pack until the morning.

Opera

Today was a working day and then we got ready to go to one of our favorite things in The Villages.  The Three Tenors + One.  It's an annual concert put on by the Villages Opera Club to support scholarships for opera students.

The program cover

Devin Eatmon, one the Tenors, was our waiter multiple times a number of years ago when the singing waiters were at a local country club.  The country club is now a small theatre.

People were lined up to talk to the singers.  The tall young man is Devin.

After the concert, we met Ethel and Steve, who were at the concert also, and decided to go to TooJays for dinner.  We had a yummy dinner.  There was a little wait but it wasn't too bad.  As Steve said it was going to be a wait wherever we went.

Arlene and Joan were on their way to dinner (they were seeing the later performance) and we ran into them.

Shopping and Eating

Today was the Holiday Travel RV Craft Fair, in Leesburg.  It's an annual event and we went with Arlene and Joan.

We all bought a little something.  It seemed like a little smaller event than in past years.

We decided to try Wolfy's for lunch.  We had passed it for years and did not know if it was like the old restaurant by that name of our childhood in the Miami Beach Area.  It was different, but the food was good and we all enjoyed our lunch.  It was a very busy place, which is always a good sign.  Arlene and Joan treated us to lunch which was a nice surprise.

We next stopped at Stein Mart as Terry was looking for an "meet your new cousin" outfit.  She found a top but nothing else.  Joan found a couple of tops and also went to Ulta (which is next door).

We came home and I napped for three hours - Terry napped for only one hour.

We had our leftover ribs for dinner and I spent the evening reading and listening to a speaker about Buddhism, which was part of a program conducted at our Temple, titled Religion in the 21st Century.

Terry has been busy printing out our Glazer Family Tree and it is all over the dining room table.  One branch is three pages long and another is 10 pages long.
