We were meeting Terry's second summer girl, Dorothy, at Bahama Breeze Restaurant in the shopping center. For those unfamiliar with the term summer girl, let us explain. When Terry's kids were young, Terry needed help keeping them occupied during the summer months and she and some friends hired girls from Iowa to help with the kids. Dorothy was with her the second summer of hiring summer help.
Dorothy is a lovely young woman. She and her husband, Steve, came to the girls' weddings and Terry and she have been in touch all of these years. Her husband is a doctor, she has three boys (two of whom are married and each of whom has two boys).
Her mother's family included a Vice President of the United States and other prominent individuals. After her mother died, she and her siblings decided to donate the memorabilia that her mother had to the local historical society in the small town her mother was from out east. They were elated to get the collection.
Dorothy still lives on the lake in Missouri and they have bought a place in Venice, FL for winters. Steve is commuting back and forth and anticipates that his job should be ended by December.
It was a little over an hour drive for each of us.
