South Beach to Home

As we mentioned in an early post, the hotel was strange.  At 4 a..m., the big screen TV that faced the beds went from black screen to bright grey screen.  The remote was nowhere near us - in 15 minutes it went off.  Of course by then I was wide awake.  I did fall back to sleep eventually.

Also, you could not turn on any light independent - without the main switch on (near the door leading into the room).  So, if you went to the bathroom at night, you could not turn on the bathroom light without turning on all lights in the room.  Perfect when you have a roommate -NOT.

We got dressed and went down for breakfast.  The continental breakfast was $18 per person, and the full buffet was $24 per person.  But, because I'm a Hilton Honors Member, our breakfasts (full buffet) were free.

When we checked out, I asked to see the manager and told him that I have traveled a lot and stayed in Hilton Hotels and this was the most disappointing stay.  I told him about the TV and the lights.  He took off the $42 parking charge!

We took a trip down memory lane and drove past two places where we lived in Florida.

411 - 82nd Terrace

9500 West Bay Harbor Drive - Bay Harbor Islands

We got on I-95 and went to pick up Joan at her Aunt's place.  Her aunt was so glad that she had visited and didn't want her to leave!

We got on the Turnpike and headed home.  I did the driving and we did multiple stops, including one for lunch.

Got back to The Villages and stopped at the Postal Station and Terry's package was there.  My package was on the porch when we left yesterday.  Terry just brought it into the house and I'll open it later tonight.

When we got home, it was such a wonderful day that we decided to have cheese and crackers and pita chips and humus on the back patio.  Called Joan and she brought her own wine bottle over.  Arlene was at a movie that she had wanted to see.

Came in the house and answered student emails and am working on blogs, expenses, and need to unpack (Terry's already unpacked).
